Trip Description : Travel back through time to gain a rare insight into the lifestyle of royalty at the Vimanmek Mansion, the world’s largest golden teak building. The mansion was built as a royal residence, but now houses priceless treasures and a collection of late 19th and early 20th century royal memorabilia. Close to the mansion is the Anantasamakom Throne Hall. Built in 1906, this Renaissance building was constructed of marble from Italy and was once used as the National Assembly. Enjoy the beauty of the dome of the throne hall which houses picturesque frescoes of royal activities, as well as the exhibition on ’Arts of the Kingdom’, displaying the masterpieces of Thai craftsmen.

ITINERARY

08:00 hrs	Meet your English-speaking guide in the hotel’s lobby. Transfer to Vimanmek Mansion (Cloud Mansion), the world’s largest building made entirely of golden teak. The three story wooden palace has 81 rooms, halls and ante-rooms. The building was originally constructed on Srichang Island in the Gulf of Siam. In 1901, the building was removed to the Dusit Palace by the command of King Rama V (King Chulalongkorn). Many rooms currently maintain the atmosphere of the past. Most of the building in the same compound are now used as museums. You may also visit Abhisek Dusit Hall, which exhibits H.M. Queen Sirikit’s collection of handicraft masterpieces created by rural people. The other displays of various items and art objects including H.M. King Bhumibol’s photography, paraphernalia of rank and portraits, ancient cloth, clocks, and royal carriages.
10:30 hrs	Continue to visit The Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall was constructed in the Italian Renaissance and Neo Classic style of architecture. The exterior is decorated with marble from Carrara, Italy. ’Arts of the Kingdom’ — a magnificent exhibition of exquisite but rarely seen traditional Thai crafts reflects the decades of work initiated under The Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques or the SUPPORT Foundation under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit. The Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Techniques or SUPPORT Foundation is dedicated to the preservation of the Thai art and cultural heritage and craftsmanship and has enabled farmers to earn supplementary income during the period after the annual harvest. The highlights of the Arts of the Kingdom exhibition include the awe-inspiring Suphannapetra golden junk - a masterpiece handcrafted by the artisans of the SUPPORT Foundation and presented to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on Her Majesty’s 72 nd birthday anniversary, the Phra Mahajanaka golden junk studded with precious gems and embellished with beetle wing collage, as well as several new additions to the collection.
